In this regard, the theory holds the notion that a film is a depiction of the director’s artistic vision. Based on this theory, it is easy to recognize a movie that is directed by a particular individual since they are likely to recycle certain themes and visual elements that are considered their signature. Other than that, these elements are likely to be unique to that particular individual. Therefore, the director has a certain artistic identity in all his films (Lackey, 2019). The concept is derived from the French New Wave that recognizes a director as an artist. The idea was developed by Max Reinhardt, a German theatre director and later on, it was reinvented by the French New Wave (Lackey, 2019). This notion was especially clear in the films created by Alfred Hitchcock, who was popular for his commercial thrillers that were used a lot of vulgar
