Today, the workforce has drastically changed, and individuals are still fighting for those same equal rights. For this reason, the purpose of this article critique is to gain a better understanding of Christopher L. Tomlins book The State of Unions (1985), which looks back at union decline and failed revival efforts of the past quarter century. The article, Moving Beyond the Critical Synthesis: Does The Law Preclude a Future for US Unions? by Richard Hurd (2013), will be critiqued and cover the authors main points and the authors arguments.
