The department contained three other employees and was looking to expand vastly. With this expansion, we would obtain a graduate program financial aid officer, a graduate program student liaison, and a medical doctorate student liaison. The task was not outlined, and instruction was minimal. Since I knew that one of my tasks was to hire three employees, I created a hiring process for my department. In doing so I realized there were no policies and procedures for the department at all. This caused me to make a huge shift internally and implement policies andprocedures for day-to-day tasks, student-led events, and financial aid. This is something I am still undergoing within my department. I believe that I completed this task well by discussing it with my department, I did not become tyrannical or overbearing in this process.
