Unit 1 - Fundamentals of StatisticsCanesha AbdulahiAmerican InterContinental University AbstractThis paper will discuss the chosen qualitative and quantitative data variables “Position” and “Extrinsic.” It will go into detail about the differences between these two variables. It will also talk about the importance of descriptive statistics, variance and standard deviation, as well as charts and graphs. There will also be plenty of visual examples.IntroductionNumbers are everywhere. These numbers added together gives us information. Numbers are used in sales reports, health risks information, and even news headlines (Editorial Board, 2012). These numbers are called statistics. Statistics are used for everything from prescribing medications to setting policies (Editorial Board, 2012). Averages, percentages, and ratios are all forms of statistics.Chosen VariablesI chose “position” for my qualitative data and “extrinsic” for quantitative data. I chose these variables because variables are the characteristics of individuals or objects. They can have different values (Editorial Board, 2012). Examples of variables include weight, hour’s slept or salt consumption.Difference in variable typesQualitative data is data that contains measurements that are non-numerical on a data set.
