Trauma and shame are common feelings among all human beings. In most cases, individuals tend to ignore these feelings, which leads to adverse effects in the future. What’s more, society holds back from addressing these issues making it difficult for people that experience trauma to get better. Brown (2012, p.69) explains that shame is “the intensely painful feeling or experience of believing that we are flawed and therefore unworthy of love or belonging”. In addition, trauma is the emotion associated with negative life experiences. Therefore, the people who undergo the restorative justice system, including the victims, perpetrators, and families often face shame and trauma.The mentioned modules introduced me to new perspectives about shame and trauma. According to Elliot (2011), people fail to acknowledge shame despite the fact that it affects all human beings. When an individual experiences trauma or shame, they often feel like they are alone. Shame is often a product of failure or mistakes. Therefore, people fail to speak about it because it
