While this definition gives a broad overview, Nursing Informatics is an ever-evolving discipline thatintegrates with multiple Information and Analytical Sciences (Bickford, 2015) . Nursing and Health Informatics roles have moved beyond the traditional function of direct patient care and include roles such as: Communications, Technology Developer, Educator, Researcher, CNO, CIO, Policy Developer, etc. (Jansen, 2018. p 9). Informatics Nurses' responsibilities are growing to encompass information technologies to support consumers, patients, and other providers with their decision-making through information structures, processes, and technology (Jansen, 2018). p 7). The foundations for using data in health care and Nursing Informatics can be traced back to the 19 th century and the work of Florence Nightengale during the Crimean War and Ernest Codman. Nightengale recognized that more soldiers were dying from complications than from their original wounds (Ogrinc et al., 2015. P 76). She devised a method
