There have been two revisions since. In 2007-2008, and in 2015. The workgroup and advisory group in 2013-2014 revised the 2008 definition to include four key changes (Bickford, 2015). The changes were: 1. How the NI Specialty integrates nursing science with multiple information and analytical sciences. 2. Expanding the NI actions to include the precursors, identification, and definition, to reflect the information nurses role in transforming data to wisdom (DIKW). 3. Moving Nurse: to the first position of the individuals and groups, followed by consumers, and patients to recognize the importance of all participants in the healthcare system. 4. Establish that decision making in all roles and settings has the specific purpose of achieving the desired outcomes. (Bickford, 2015). Professional performance has been addressed from the initial scope and standards which included specific measurement criteria for each standard. Subsequent revisions mandated review of each standard and development of accompanying competencies, rather than measurement criteria, congruent with the template
