During the formal school year, the students are prepared to train family nurse practitioner in acute care, psychiatric health, or women care services. As family nurse practitioner students approach the end of their academic program, they must prepare to achieve national certification by an accredited NP certification body (American Associations of Nurse Practitioners, 2012). However, the question arise, can a FNP, who is certified for primary care setting, work in emergency department or intensive care unit.
