Ethics is the integral part in nursing. It encompasses illness prevention, protection, restoration and prevention of health, alleviation of suffering of people. American nurses code of ethics is the dynamic document, followed by the nurses. It focuses on respecting the human dignity, relationship with the patient irrespective or caste, culture, language or belief, and the right to self determination, and many more. There are several barriers to the ethical practices. Institutional barrier is the major barrier, where nurses find difficulty in supporting the role of administration, nursing peers and physicians because this is may lead to punishment or lowering the status down, which creates frustration, anger, etc. This barrier can be overcome by clear and effective communication while advocating the patients. The communication is marked clear if it has minimum emotional reactions such as frustration or anger. Moreover, maintain the proper record of the patient which facilitates the consistent care of the patients. Another barrier to these ethics is the educational barrier, which can be removed by properly educating the nurses about the various problems that may occur.ReferencesNursing World, November 15, 2010, Code of Ethics of Nurses with interpretive statement, data retrieved on August 7, 2013
