The term “enlightenment” spread during the mid and late 1700s in Europe from the desire among philosophers to gain more understanding concerning society and the way of governance. In political science, Enlightenment is believed to be an intellectual movement that existed from the mid-to-late 1700 in Europe and focused on altering the “ideas of government and society” (Lecture 6, p.3). The repeated turmoil caused by the monarchy governance was the central factor that triggered the formation of the Enlightenment movement. On the other hand, Liberalism refers to a moral and political philosophy founded on impartiality before the law, consent of the governed, and liberty for all people. During the Age of Enlightenment, Liberalism became a different movement among western economists and philosophers. The movement was formed in order to press for the replacement of absolute monarchy, hereditary privilege, traditional conservatism,
