Since World War II, the number of stressors has continued to increase with the shift in science and technology. New diseases, accidents, family conflicts, attacks, gender-based violence, and other social factors have been associated with the rising stress among individuals worldwide. To help people recover from the painful experiences from such situations, Psychoanalysis and Adlerian theories were developed mainly to address such conditions through counseling. Both psychoanalysis and Adlerian primarily focus on building resilience among individuals who have passed through a stressful situation to help them recover through achieving emotional well-being and pursuing a quality life. Studies have also emphasized the benefit of resilience by arguing that stability provides a shield against the everyday stressors in life (Safran, & Hunter, 2020).
