Discussion 1: Nonverbal CommunicationWhen people talk about communication, they usually refer to what they say, the words they use. However, it also incorporates implicit messages which are expressed through nonverbal behaviors. Nonverbal communication incorporates gestures shown through body language, the pitch and tone of the voice, physical distance between communicators, and facial expressions (Segal, et al., 2020). Recently, there have been rising cases of women coming forward with sexual harassment allegations. Sexual harassment grows out of verbal and nonverbal behavior. In the workplace, it is an outcome of power relations where the most vulnerable and the least protected employees are under threat. Nonverbal communication has, to some extent, contributed to a few sexual harassment cases as they can provide contradicting or clear messages (Segal, et al., 2020).
