For example, at the start of this course when I thought of "human rights violations," things that automatically came to mind were the Holocaust, slavery, starvation in poor countries, and not having access to clean drinking water for many countries. However, since taking this course I realize that there are many other categories of human rights. One thing that I never really thought about or realized is how much censorship occurs in other countries. Journalists put their lives on the line in an attempt to report the truth in places like Mexico and China. Another insight I gained is how I myself have been the victim of a human rights violation but never thought of it as one until this class, that being domestic violence. Finally, I understand there is a need for welfare programs for those people who really are vulnerable groups such as the elderly, the truly disabled, and children. However, I do not agree with the concept of "redistribution of wealth." I am
