However, applying a sociological perspective focused on media impacts may further inform my analysis. Numerous studies utilize cultivation theory to argue media coverage perpetuates gender biases in sports. For example, under 5% of sports commentary addresses pay discrimination, rarely questioning the wage gap's fairness. With research it has been revealed women's sports receive only 2% of airtime in televised news and highlights. Sociologists contend limited exposure combined with commentary focused on female athletes' femininity over athletic skill spreads the perception that women's sports are less exciting and socially relevant (Kane & Maxwell, 2011). In contrast, showcasing visible female athlete's achievements through the proposed local events could assist advocacy efforts by combating assumptions behind pay inequities. While my current analysis recognizes some media factors, incorporating additional sociological insights on representation and gender biases potentially strengthens arguments onthe showcase initiative's transformative potential. How Critically Analyzing Diversity Adds
