A civil trial involves an individual’s claim against another and is different from a criminal trial where the state prosecutes an individual for violating the criminal law. This paper discusses the civil procedure rules in Colorado and how they can be applied based on the given scenario of trying to find the respondent and issue the papers filed by the separated spouse.In the first scenario, the attempt to find the respondent in his home is unsuccessful as the adult child is the only one available. The Colorado Civil Procedure Rule 4 state that a copy of the case papers can be delivered to an adult member of the respondent’s family in case of his absence. Considering that the child is already an adult I would opt to leave the case papers with him and ask the child to ensure that the paper reaches the respondent. The rule further states that a copy of the case papers can be delivered at the respondent working place and in case of
