Several qualities of a transformational nurse leader make theleadership style appropriate for this unit, including influencing others to adopt the change,inspiring, motivating, creativity, communication, commitment, and confidence (Weber &Harrison, 2019). Kiwanuka et al. (2021) state that leadership styles in an intensive care settingcan be transformational, considerate, trusted, exemplary, and absentee leadership. However,transformational leadership has the most benefits in terms of impacting healthcare staff and theworking environment of a NICU. When implementing the intervention plan in the NICU,transformative change is required to increase the staff and parents capacities in delivering careand improving nursing practice. Actual transformative change can be achieved when thecapacities of parents are increased to ensure time and commitment to kangaroo care (KC) andcaregiving activities, improved health knowledge, and caregiving skills (Weber & Harrison,2019). Alternatively, a
