The ear is a body organ from hearing and controls balance. The external part of the ear consists of the pinna (or auricle). An external auditory tube connects the inside of the ear to the middle. Then there is the eardrum, this divides the external part of the ear from the middle and is a direct connection to the auditory tube. Next, the ears have the smallest bones in the human body. These bones are called ossicles, and they reside in the middle of the ear(Tympanic Cavity). The tympanic cavity also includes the malleus, incus, and stapes. Then there is another tube called the Eustachian tube which connects the middle part of the ear to the back of the nose used to transfer sound waves. Lasty, we have the inner ear which consists of the cochlea, vestibule, and semicircular canals. All parts of the inner ear are used for balance purposes.
