The organization I have chosen for my Leadership and Organizational Behavior Project Proposal is El Sol Neighborhood Educational Center. El Sol is a non-profit organization founded in 1991 and established in San Bernardinos Westside community. Their mission is to empower their community to lead healthy and comfortable lives with access to health care safe, affordable housing opportunities for education and the leadership skills to eliminate disparities. El Sol developed a Promotores de Salud Mental (Mental Health Promoter) curriculum and training program through support from the County of San Bernardino Department of Behavioral Health. El Sol has provided extensive weekly training for promotores in key mental health topics including depression anxiety and bipolar disorders mental health recovery and resilience cultural and linguistic services for Latinos substance abuse and postpartum depression. El Sol also provides opportunities for the Promotores de Salud to practice their new skills in supportive and encouraging learning environments at the training facilities. There, Promotores become experts on how to identify current and potential mental health issues, identify risk factors and provide linkage and resources
