Survey MethodsNameInstitutional affiliationSurvey MethodsIntroductionSurvey administration method is an important element in research as it is a way by which survey data are gathered. Generally, there are two forms of survey administration methods: interviewer-administered survey and self-administered survey (Zhang, Kuchinke, Woud, Velten, & Margraf, 2017). In the interviewer-administered survey, a researcher collects data in person. Thus he or she is directly in contact with respondents and directly asks questions from the questionnaire and records the responses. The two primary methods of interviewer-administered survey are face-to-face interviews and telephone interviews(Zhang et al., 2017). In self-administered survey, respondents receive questionnaires in the absence of the researcher/interviewer and independently responds to the survey questions before resending the completed questionnaires back to the researcher(Zhang et al., 2017). The major types of self-administered survey are web surveys, mail surveys, e-mail surveys, and in-person self-administered survey. In-person self-administered survey involves researcher issuing questionnaires to large group of people who independently responds to the questions before returning them to the researcher(Zhang et al., 2017).
