Hello ElizabethYour point implies that the theory of planned behavior is very important especially in advanced nursing practice and in healthcare as a whole. This model acts as a premise that people make logical, reasoned decisions to involve themselves in particular behaviors through evaluating the information available to them. The effect of a given behavior is determined by the intention of a person to engage in it as well as the perception that the behavior within than individual’s control. In healthcare field, patient safety is very important. The theory of planned behavior has been used to determine the social and health behaviors. Javadi et al., (2013) show that normative beliefs possess great impact on intentions demonstrated by patients when implementing patient safety behaviors. The healthcare normative beliefs in both private and public healthcare facilities have effect on safety behaviors of nurses compared to other variables. The study also shows that the behaviors of nurses in the surgical wards have been greatly influenced by control beliefs.ReferenceJavadi, M., Kadkhodaee, M., Yaghoubi, M., Maroufi, M., & Shams, A.
