Dear Gabrielle,The change theory is an important model for influencing change within an organization. Lewin’s theory has been credited as an important model for initiating change because it creates the appropriate conditions for sustained change in the workplace. This occurs through a process of trial and error within a work group until the best solution is found. Change initiatives are needed to change the status quo and implement alternatives that will re-stabilize the environment (Batras, Duff & Smith. 2016). This model fits in well with the example you gave. Nurses should have the capability to perform necessary interventions without doctor’s orders. They should be allowed to remove Foleys for patients at risk of developing infections after they perform the right assessments. I believe the Change Model was an important tool for influencing and effecting this change in your place of work. I also hope that it is working well for all of you. Thank you.ReferencesBatras, D., Duff., C., & Smith, B.J. (2016). Organizational Change theory: Implications for health promotion practice.
