I agree with you that the “chapters of the fathers” is a collection of teachings passed orally from the rabbis who received the Torah. I also agree that the text creates a relationship between rabbinic authority and the ancient Judaism. However, I am mostly impressed by the mentioning of the three most important things that are emphasized in the entire text; justice, truth, and peace, which are the foundation of the Judaic religion.Regards!Response Hi Lily,Your post demonstrated your understanding of the Pirkei Avot 1:1-18. I agree with you that the text is not a historical acount but a presentation of an intellectual genealogy that establishes the credentials of the rabbinic sages.
