When talking about facing religious persecution he says it's an "Israelite's duty to suffer death and not violate any one, even if the remaining commandments, whether the coercion takes place in the presence of ten Israelites or in the presence of idolaters" (Twersky 49). But later in the reading he says that an israelite were to suffer death instead of transgression then he is to blame for his death. In order to sanctify God's name without having to die, he suggests behaving well, having good manners and studying the Torah.
