He was a great warrior, a poet and a musician, the author of the poetry and musical books of Psalms and Proverbs and a prophet (2 Samuel 23:2). His name, is derived from a Hebrew word Dāwîḏ, which means the beloved, and according to1 Samuel 13:14, he was loved dearly by God. The history of David can be studied three parts; before his anointment, his reign as king and his sin(Newadvent.org). Born in Bethlehem, David was the youngest son of Jesse, and was always dedicated to looking after his father’s flock. After his appointment by Samuel, David wins the favor of Saul who invites him to join his court, after his assassination of Goliathof Geth. Following the death Saul, David is anointed King of Hebron, and Isboseth as king of Judah. However, following the assassination of Isboseth, David is appointed king of Judah. As king, David wins many battles, including the conquest of Jebusite city of Jerusalem, which he named his capital. He also brought the Ark of the Covenant from Cariathiarim, making Jerusalem
