The word ‘epistle’ refers to a letter or a series of letters. Therefore, the book of Romans is a letter. The book was written by Apostle Paul at around 60 A.D from the city of Corinth in Greece. Paul organizes the letter into an introduction(1:1-17), the body and the conclusion (15:14—16:27). In the introduction, Paul begins with a salutation to the people of Rome, expresses concern his willingness and readiness to travel to Rome and preach to the romans about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The majority of the romans did not understand the Old Testament because it only related to the Jewish people.
