She wishes to go see her family, but John does not seem to allow it. Pari experiences otherness in some different ways.She is originally from the country of Thailand. She came to the United States to marry John, who is a 45-year-old Caucasian American. She experiences otherness regarding differing religionfrom her husband. Pari practices Buddhism and John practices the Baptist religion. Pari also struggles a bit when it comes to speaking English. She also looks different from her in-laws, who are blonde, skinny, and dress nicely. This leads to John expecting Pari to be “more Americanâ€. When Pari moved to the United States, her family was not supportive. She faces isolation being a stay-at-home mom with no friends. These things have contributed to the difficult adjustment Pari has had in the United States.Pari is a stay-at-home mom to a two-year-old daughter, and she has no support system. This is something that could
