This not only includes who well an employee performs the role but also the behaviors displayed while employed. Employee discipline, performance management and employe and labor relations are all aspects of managing employees. All these aspects can have both positive and negative impacts on departments depending on the management of the issues.Employee DisciplineDisciplinary action is a necessary process to correct undesirable behavior displayed by employees. As Cosentino (2023) points out, disciplinary action is a way to help correct behavior that does not meet the employer’s standards. It is not meant to be a punishment. However, when disciplinary action is taken, the team sees undesirable behavior being addressed and that sets a tone for what will be tolerated. If a leader ignores employee behavior that does not meet an organization’s standards, the team loses respect for that leader.
