Mostly police are the ones called to tent city to either remove them from where they are, arrest them, or cite them. Its just that simple according to some people who don’t like where the city or cities across the world are going. For this plan to work, you must have a strong trust and strong cooperation between the citizens of LA, the homeless population, and the police department that serves both sides. The issue of public trust can come from both sides of the community. The homeless are not a big supporter of police because of the constant harassing by them to try and comply with city ordinances, laws, and regulations. “As homelessness has increased in Southern California, that means more officers responding to more calls where someone involved potentially has a severe mental illness.” (Tinoco, 2020) So, the distrust arises from so much harassment over the years by police, but we need to take into consideration the political climate we currently live in.
