This article piqued my interest because it depicted the author's experience growing up in a Korean immigrant family and remembering eating traditional American foods like turkey on Thanksgiving to show her parents' gratitude for all of the opportunities America has provided them. This had me thinking back on my own family’s Thanksgiving holiday. Although we were not immigrants to this country, I always felt like we were viewed as such. Both my parents and grandparents were born in Texas, my father’s side being Mexican-American and my mother’s being Chiricahua Apache, and although both my parents spoke English.
