By utilizing an individual orientation, you can cater the information specific to that employee’s skills and level of knowledge. In my current employer, we utilize a more hybrid approach. New hires to the company receive an organizational orientation in a large group of new hires. Upon their first day in the department, they would then receive an individual orientation that covers more departmental regulations and guidelines. This hybrid method has been extremely successful with my current employer as the new hire is able to obtain both organizational and departmental information. New hires that are transferring within the company from one department to another would only receive individual orientation as they would have already received the organizational orientation when they first started with the company.
