Theme Of The Essay Entitled Macho

The toughness of not listening to what other people say or think defines the essay Machos main theme. Klass provides a background that in each medical school, students are associated with a particular group, which they stick to throughout their study period of four years. The competition among those groups brings in power-crazed students who do not want to portray any form of weakness or their group perceived as weak, thereby transforming the medical school into a battleground for power and toughness (Klass 10). The short story, Sweat by Zora Hurston tackles the same theme of toughness and power. Delia the main character in the story works as a washwoman in white people homes to earn a living. She works for long hours sweating to put food on the table, despite the abusive husband, Skyes who wants to portray that he is the authority and power of the house yet he does not provide for the family.
