Ethnographic Comparison Diversity and World Cultures HUM215 Argosy University Ethnographic Comparison The two societies that I have chosen to compare are American Indians and Filipinos. American Indians also called Native Americans, goes back thousands of years to a time when these indigenous people lived in what is now known as North American. Every aspect of this society revolved around the earth and nature. They worshipped the spirits of animals as Gods, but they also hunted them for clothing and food. None of the animals they killed would be wasted because they ate the meat, wore the hides, and used the skin to make drums and the bones for weapons and tools. The Indians believed the Great Spirit had power over all things including animals, trees, stones, and clouds. The earth was believed to be the mother of all spirits. The sun had great power also because it gave the earth light and warmth. The Plains Indians prayed individually and in groups. They believed visions in dreams came from the spirits. The medicine man or shaman was trained in healing the sick and interpreting signs and dreams (Customs, n.d.). Filipinos come from the Philippines. They are a mix of the American,
