The second week dealt with differentiating between diversity and inclusion based on their definition. The information changed my perception of the issue of diversity and inclusion as I used to trat them as equals. While diversity was generalized as any unique individual difference making him different from others whetehr in origin, personality, experience, and age among others. Inclusion was defined as the appreciation of individual differences and the creation of a workplace where employees are treated equally. I have learned that diversity focuses on the workforce differing characteristics such as race, age, and ethnicity among others, while inclusion is the culture created to enable diversity to thrive. This information can help me in my work as it may help to understand the factors that make it hard for diversity to thrive and work on them. Also, this will help in the creation of strong relationships with my fellow employees as I understand the importance of a fair and all-inclusive workforce. I had a positive reaction to this information as differentiating diversity and inclusion is important for them to co-exist.
