Because as a student, we have experienced the burden of homework at one point or another. But it is to be noted that homework is an essential part of learning and educational experience. Homework plays a critical role in the reinforcement of classroom learning, encourages self-discipline, promotes independent learning, and improves academic performance while preparing for college and beyond, parental involvement, helps teachers in understanding students’ performance and teaches time management skills. Without homework, students can’t comprehend what they studied in class. From the article “Does Homework Improve Academic Achievement? A Synthesis of Research, 1987-2003” by Harris Cooper, Jorgianne C. Robinson, and Erika A. Patall: “Across five studies, the average student who did homework had a higher unit test score than the students not doing homework. However, 35 less rigorous (correlational) studies suggest little or no relationship between homework and achievement for elementary school students.” Homework has its effectiveness even if the negative aspects can’t be neglected. Homework is essential and it is extremely helpful if it
