Article Critique Name Institution The qualitative study design was effective for this research. The selection of focus group from the Cohort Study of Medication Adherence in Older Adults (CoSMO), was in line with the study quality and validity demands. The time taken to complete longitudinal study enhances the validity, since a lot of data is captured and all changes monitored. The accuracy of the study information also heightened by the eight-item, Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8). The coding method ensured all the information was capture for analysis. The tool effectively addressed barriers to languages and medical takings. The open-ended questions encouraged respondents to express their emotions and differences in opinions even in a group setting (Holt, Ariane, Kyala, Firestein Kraousel-Wood, 2014). The self report measure can function as screening tool to single out patients who were poorly adapting and risked uncontrolled blood pressure. The 8-item instrument is also easy to use, among both respondents and researchers (Barbour, 2007). As compared to the 4-item scale, the 8-item scale has very high sensitivity level. The items sensitivity is about 93 per cent. The level is very accurate in determining patients with low medication adherence and uncontrolled blood pressure relative to all patients
