Research refers to testing hypotheses to develop new knowledge, while evidence-based practice appraises or analyses research-based evidence and works on implementing it (Mackey & Bassendowski, 2017). For this reason, the research develops new knowledge, while evidence-based practice (EBP) translates the new knowledge or information into practice to tackle actual problems (Berthelsen & Hølge‐Hazelton, 2017). The main purpose of research is to validate existing claims or arguments or to generate new knowledge based on existing knowledge (Berthelsen & Hølge‐Hazelton, 2017). Researchers aim to determine research study gaps, ask questions regarding the gaps, and develop a hypothesis to tackle the questions. During this stage, a systematic study is conducted to test these hypotheses.
