Task 2:We can make sense of the paradox in the first 3 lines, by analyzing what Dickinson is saying and how she expresses what is considered good or bad by people’s perspectives, in which something good (sane) can be considered bad, and how something bad can be considered good by people and society. The speaker of the poem is a woman, and even though she expresses her concern in a calm way, she feels trapped in a judgemental society dictated by society’s norms and people’s perspective. In this poem, the speaker seeks for readers to speak up even though they might be considered irrational for not supporting/agreeing to certain society’s norms. She uses alliteration with the words “Much” and “Madness” to portray how there is a lot of misunderstanding of what is considered rational or irrational by society. The themes of this poem are society and sanity. By the use of dashes and strange capitalizations we can infer the speaker’s tone.Task 3:After analyzing Dickinson's poem and the historical context, my interpretation of the poem is that Dickinson was expressing her own feelings and seeking the readers to speak up and to not feel trapped to act
