Leitmotifs of her poetry comprise her long fight against depression and mania, suicidal tendencies, and various intimate details from her private life, including her relationships with her family members and the close associations with her doctors. (Carroll, 63)The poem “Doctors” depict the author’s complex and mixed emotions towards the physicians. She focusses on telling the readers in very succinct way what she thinks this profession means to her.
