It is how the collective thinks, feels, acts, and just is according to its anthropologic definition and as Hofstede and Minkov (2010) maintain "the collective programming of the mind" that helps us tell one set of group members from another set (as cited by Hofstede, 2011). The differing social systems can be comprised of a large group such as a country or nation and then split into smaller subcultures or subgroups that can range from states, cities, neighborhoods,and/or communities. The larger pictures make me a member of the United States, but my subgroups break down into such groups like from the state of Wisconsin, the city of Milwaukee, and the smaller community of the Northside.
