This is the perfect example that shows how the whole story developed and how Offred surrenders at the end. In the bright side, don’t worry surrendering is not always a bad thing. In The Handmaid’s Tale, by Offred the protagonist of the book, tells us her story of all the pain and the life she endures with other people. This story takes place in a dystopian future in the U.S, in the small town The Republic of Gilead. It’s a wired armed building surrounded by guards, or as they call them angels, where they sexually and physically exploit women for their bodies, because its “their purpose” which was to get pregnant and have babies since the leader’s called commanders, in the place where they lived had infertile wives, so the handmaids like Offred were forced to get pregnant so that the wives would have a child.
