CAP499Instructor:Due date :Abstract.A large volume of analytical data about mental health in professional and student athletes suggest that there is a niche of information about the importance of mental health, and as a result it is not given the seriousness it needs. A larger percentage, about 33% of students , from the data provided later on in the paper, show signs of depression and anxiety and as a result find it hard to perform optimally in the sports field. This paper also responds to the challenges the athletes are facing, by suggesting a number of recommendations, including making mental health studies a mandatory subject in high school and higher learning institutions.
