Any preterm infants bornprior to 36-week gestational age and neonates with a wide array of diagnoses require admissionto the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Approximately 2.4 million babies die annuallybefore reaching 28 days of life (Iga, 2022). In the United States, according to the centers fordisease control and prevention (CDC) (2022), there were 5.4 deaths per every 1000 live births in2020. Asphyxia, prematurity, infections, congenital disabilities, and sepsis, the leading causes ofthese neonatal deaths, occur during transportation or hospitalization. However, the NICUhospitalization mortality rate is significantly higher (Cavallin et al., 2022). Also, although only5% of the time constitutes parental presence in hospitalized infants, less than a third of parentsvisit the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for six or more consecutive days per week. Otherstudies show that some parents visit roughly four days per week during NICU hospitalization(Weber & Harrison, 2019). Therefore, an effective family-centered care (FCC) and qualityimprovement (QI) initiative would improve the health outcomes of hospitalized neonates andreduce the neonatal mortality rate
