Freud is known for his development of psychoanalysis, which explores how past experiences affect thoughts and behaviors, and also for his role in popularizing counseling as an approach to mental health disorders. Maslow is known for his Hierarchy of Needs theory, which identifies that health is not only influenced by biological needs, but psychological needs as well (Varcarolis & Fosbre, 2017). Freud and PsychoanalysisSigmund Freud was born in 1856 in Austria (Whitebook, 2020). He was the oldest of eight children. His family struggled financially when Freud was young, but their fortunes would improve as Freud grew older. This allowed Freud to attend the finer Viennese schools, which allowed Sigmund to develop his love for medicine. To this end, he enrolled in the University of Vienna, eventually graduating and beginning his career as a neurologist. This work
