Physical discipline has become more of a sensitive topic in the last 20 years. Some individuals consider physical discipline cruel punishment and also feel it can affect the development of the child. Also, other individuals feel it’s the only way to alter a child’s negative behavior. Research has shown that physical discipline is common in African American households.
