I was working for an electrical contractor at the time, and we were building a new plant in conjunction with the general contractor. The most beneficial tool for us was the project scheduling since we were part of the critical path to get the plant operational as fast as possible. During this project the mechanical contractor could not complete their work on time so when the client asked questions as to why the electrical was not completed on time, we were able to show that we could not complete our work until the mechanical contractor was done. I personally do not think that the tools that we used at the time were cumbersome since they were easy to communicate with anyone involved with the project. I think an important tool that we did not use is the Gantt chart. If the entire project would have had a Gantt chart, it would have bolstered our case against
