1SpatialDistributionPatternofTeaShopinBagoTown,MyanmarMonMonSan1,NawThitaguMyintzuHtun2,NawThinPhyuPhyuHtwe3ABSTRACTMostoftheurbanresidentsaregettingintothehabitoftakingteaandcoffeeatleasttwiceaday.Thisstudytriestodepictthedistributionoftea-shopinBagotownandfindsouttherelationshipsbetweensocialandeconomicstatusofthetown.InBagotown,therearethreetypesofteashops.Thedistributionpatternsareaffectedbythesocio-economicconditionsofthetown.Simplestatisticalmethodsareusedtofindouttherelationships.Andthreesizesoftea-shopareHigh,MediumandSmalldependingontheiropenspace.Thenumberandqualityoftheteashopsdependonthesocio-economicstatusofthecity.Therefore,thispaperistitledTheSpatialDistributionPatternofTeaShopsinBagoTown.Forthewholetown,mostoftheteashoparedistributedmainlyalongthehighways,themainroads,junctionofthestreetsandconcentratednearmarkets.DistributionpatternoftheteashopsinBagotownshowsthatitisclusteredinthenorthernpartwhiledispersedinthesouthernpart.Mostoftheteashopareupgradedtheirshopsdecorationsandopenthewholedaywiththevarietyoffoodsbecauseoftheirlocalneeds.TheexistenceoftheseteashopcentersshowthatBagotownhasbetterenvironmentalconditionsforthelocationalchoiceofeconomicactivities.Keyworks:Tea-shop,distributionpatterns,socio-economic,environmentalconditionsINTRODUCTIONBagoTownisrunacrossbyYangon-MandalayHighwayRoadandRailRoad.Bagowardisoneofthetrafficcongestedareasandpopulationcrowdedarea.Nowadays,teashopculturalinBagoisauniqueone.Theteashopsaremostlyoneverystreetsandwards.ThisstudytriestodepictthedistributionpatternsofteashopintheBagoTownandfindouttheestimationthebestlocationfornewteashopsrelationshipsbetweensocialandeconomicstatusofthewards.Thesecondarydatasuchascitymapplan,WardsboundaryandpopulationdataarecollectedfromDepartmentofTownshipDevelopmentCommitteeandGeneralAdministrationDepartmentofBago.Moreover,addressesandlocationofregisteredteashopsarecollectedfromDepartmentofTownshipdevelopmentcommittee.Theprimarydata,especiallyfortheteashopsdistributedlocationsareusuallycollectedbyfieldsurveying.ToregistertherawmapscollectedfromtheGAD,theGISsoftware10.1wasusedandtheneededmapregistrationsprocessingwereproceeded.TheUTMmapWGS1984Zone47wasusedasbasedmap.Moreover,theteashopscollectedbyfieldsurveyingwerealsoinsertedontheratifiedmapbyusingArcGISsoftware.Thisprojectpapercanbeassessedforfurtherstudyofsocioeconomicconditionswithinthistown.Objectives2Tostudythenature,typesandnumberofteashopsinBagotownbyusingArcGISanalysistools.ToexaminetheteashopsdistributionpatternsinBagotown.Tocorrelatethedistributionofthetypesofteashopsandtheroadsinfrastructure,andthepopulationdistributedconditionsoftheBagotown.MethodologyToregistertherawmapscollectedfromtheGAD,theGISsoftware10.1wasusedandtheneededmapregistrationsprocessingwereproceeded.TheUTMmapWGS1984Zone47wasusedasbasedmap.Moreover,theteashopscollectedbyfieldsurveyingwerealsoinsertedontheratifiedmapbyusingArcGISsoftware.Incaseofspatialanalysis,bufferanalysistoolisespeciallyusedforbufferinganalysisonteashopsandmainroadcorrelation.Overlayanalysisisalsousedforanalysisonpopulationdistribution,densityandteashopsdistributedconditionsinstudyarea.Whenanalyzedontheteashopsdistributedpatternschangedbyclasses,overlayanalysisisalsoused.DefinitionTeashop:1.Ateahouseortearoomisavenuecentredondrinkingtea.Itsfunctionvarieswidelydependingonthecultureandsomeculturehaveavarietyofdistricttea-centredhousethatallqualifyundertheEnglishlanguagetermteahouseortearoom.(en.wikipediaorg/Teashops)2.TheteashopswasfoundedbyReedDufrane,knownlocallyandworldwideastheteaMan.TheteaManpassedawayin2001,andsincethentheteashophasbeenoperatedbyhisfamily,widow,Virginia,daughters,LisaandLauraandgrandson,MattandMattswife,Beckyandgranddaughter,Molly.Theteashophasbecomearealfamilyoperation.Formanyyears,ithasbecomecompletelywed-based,butremainscommittedtothesamehighstandardsofqualityandcontinuesthevisionoftheteamanbyprovidingitsconsumerswithonlythebestteafromaroundtheworld.(http//theteashop.com)GeographicalFactorsoftheStudyAreaBagoTownisoneofthetwenty-eighttownshipsofBagoRegion.ItissituatedinthesouthernpartofBagoRegion,occupyingBago-Sittaungrivervalley.Itextendsapproximatelybetween1721'and1729'northlatitudesandbetween9626'and9629'eastlongitudesinFig.1.1.ThetownareaisborderedbyWarmayan,Mekhon,OkehpoVillageTractsonthenorth,Kamarnat,Hmontaing,Auksidee(west)VillageTractsontheeast,Zaynyaungpin,GwayttansheyVillageTractsonthesouth,andNyaunginnVillageTractsonthewest.BagoTown,withthetotalareaof48.4squarekilometres(18.69squaremiles),comprises31wards.TheextensionoftownareaalongtheYangon-Mandalayrailroadandroadhasgiventhetownanelongatedshape.3Figure(1).LocationofBagoRegionwithinMyanmarSource:SurveyDepartment4Figure(2).LocationofBagoTownshipwithinBagoRegionSource:BasedonTopographicMapFigure(3).LocationofBagoTownwithinBagoTownshipSource:BasedonTopographicMap5SOCIALBACKGROUNDOFBAGOTOWNHistoricalBackgroundTheMonswerefirstsettledatthissiteofBagoTownandwasnamedUssa.ThefirstcitywasfoundedbytwoMonbrothersintheearly9thcenturyAD.Historicallythedynastyisr
