In your post, please refer to both Impressionist images and earlier art to support your discussion.In my own humble opinion, I strongly believe that impressionism is indeed the pioneer and original art style. I say this because of the foundations of this movement. The battle against the complacency, shortsightedness and mediocrity of the preceding art movements meant a radical upset of what the focus of art and painting should be. From artworks focused and prioritized for mythology, legend, great men and visual representations, to those of impressionism, characterized by ‘small, visible brushstrokes that offer the bare impression of form, unblended color and an emphasis on the accurate depiction of natural light' (Sothebys, 2021). The earliest impressionists ‘were united by their desire to cast off the strict rules of academic-style painting' (Sothebys, 2021). Claude Monet and Édouard Manét are examples of impressionist artists who set the tone for modern art as far back as the late 19th century. As novel styles and techniques have always evolved, thus creating new artistic revolutions and movements. So
