Although the film is not entirely accurate and dramatized, it has been an inspiration to both students and teachers in the United States. It portrays some evidence that despite all the current ideologies, schooling, and social factors, any student is capable of learning and having a bright future. These factors are represented in the film as hindrances; although these students overcame them, it was not easy.To the students, social class, gender, and race are the three significant social factors portrayed in the film as the handicaps.
