Freedom to life is more than just a human right (Savater. 2006). It is more than something the human can take pride. Freedom to life comes with the ability to take out an action with intentions and desire of what we want and to take responsibility for those actions. Savater, in his book The Question of life, chapter 6 “Freedom in Action”, deeply examines the complex meaning of freedom and the state of independence. Savater terms the actions human can take because of the freedom they have as human beings as innocent as the movement of the animal or as innocent as the growth of a tree. Savater places other notable philosopher’s allusions, such as Freud, to the philosophical freedom explanations to implementation in support of his arguments. This paper analyzes Savater’s proposals on freedom in action in application to Utilitarianism approach.
