Davenport University Managerial Communications MGMT 535 Abstract Developing an effective communication plan that can spread the cause effectively requires a lot of planning. Starting with determining the objectives, identifying the target audience, refining the message and determining the medium required to communicate the message followed by ensuring controlling measures enable in developing an effective communication plan. The following paper is an attempt to develop a communication plan for CDC that will address childhood obesity. Introduction Obesity threatens the life span of children in the US as majority of the youth and adults are also heavy weight and obese. Studies show that increasing obesity is a global concern as it is affected by numerous factors including genetics, social upbringing, dietary habits and other environmental factors (Bruss, Morris Dannison, 2003). A number of reasons have been identified by Larsen, Mandleco, Williams Tiedeman (2006) that lead to obesity like skipping breakfast, eating out and taking fast food as the primary option, portion sizes, snacking and lack of physical activity. CDC has to develop a communication plan that will create awareness among the target audience to reduce the impact of obesity by introducing a change in the lifestyle and following other strategies that would
